Garlic Bagels with Everything Seasoning

Yes, I went there too!! Fresh soft, beautiful bagels. And I want to just say, they were incredibly easy to make. Do not be hesitant thinking these are too intimidating because they are not! I am a witness. Bread is always something to be extra cautious about when making, as long as you

have the love and patience, they will come out perfect every time.

Here's how I made them


1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)

2 tsp sugar

1 1/3 c warm water (water microwaved 45 seconds)

8 large cloves pressed, through a garlic press

3 ½ c bread flour

2 tsp garlic salt

1 Tbs olive oil

Poppy seeds

Sesame seeds

Granulated onion

Garlic sea salt


  1. In a stand mixer, throw in the yeast, sugar and pour over warm water. Let the yeast blossom for about 5 minutes or so, really until you start to smell the yeast.

  2. Next add in the pressed garlic turning mixer on low, with dough hook attachment, then add in 1 cup at a time of the bread flour.

  3. When last ½ c is added, also add in the salt. Let mix for about 5 minutes or until dough is well combined and smooth.

  4. Pour a bit of olive oil over the dough, not too much, cover with plastic wrap and let rise for an hour and a half. The longer the better.

  5. When dough is ready, preheat oven to 425.

  6. Press dough down to release the air and let rest for another 10 minutes.

  7. Cut the dough into 8 equal parts and form into balls.

  8. Place your fingers in flour and press through the center of the ball creating a hole, stretching until the form of a bagel appears. About 1.5 inches in diameter.

  9. Place on a baking sheet lined with just parchment paper, cover with a towel and let rise for another 10 minutes.

  10. Meanwhile, get a large pot of water ready, over medium high heat to a boil. Once boiling turn to medium –low and place 3 bagels in at a time.

  11. Cook one minute per side, using a slotted spoon, then place back onto the parchment lined baking sheet.

  12. Once you pull the three bagels out from the boiling water, immediately sprinkle with seasonings.

  13. If you wait the bagels will dry and the toppings won’t stick.

  14. Once all are seasoned, place in the oven for 20-30 minutes, until bagel is a light golden brown.

  15. Pull out and serve immediately with cream cheese, jam, lox….the list can go on.
