Jazzing up Boxed Waffle Mix

There are plenty of times where making something from scratch can be out of the question. Especially on tight mornings. Here is a simple boxed waffle mix with a few added touches to make it taste as if it were from scratch. Nothing too much, just a few simple ingredients.

First, always start with a nice fresh fruit. Doesn't have to be strawberries. Can be Bananas, Coconut, Mango, Apple, Blueberries...really anything fresh or on hand.

Now for the Batter!

Simple......waffle mix, follow the back of the box ingredients/instructions and then add in a few touches.

BASE: To this I added, 1 tsp vanilla, pinch of nutmeg, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, pinch of salt and a few drizzles of really good maple syrup.

Some other suggestions would be:

Same as base (minus maple syrup) + a splash of red food coloring and 1 Tbs of cocoa powder...make red velvet waffles!

Same as base + 1/4 c cocoa and 1/4 c mini chocolate chips or M&M's to make double chocolate waffles

Same as base + 2 Tbs funfetti sprinkles to make funfetti waffles

Same as base + 1/4 c mashed banana, 1/4 c mini chocolate chips

Same as base + 1/4 c pumpkin puree

Same as base + 3-4 Tbs creamy peanutbutter, 1/4 c mini chocolate chips

The list can go on and on, but those are a few favorites of mine.

Yes and whipped cream is a MUST!

Just have fun with it! Just because it's boxed means nothing. It's a blank canvas to explore with flavors!
