Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, Banana Bread

There are a few things in life that are just uncontrollable....

This day - my hands were.

I could have added the sink too if I wanted to!

I've been going banana crazy lately because I am trying to eat fruit more in the morning and bananas are just super affordable and easy to get.

I got so many I did not know what to do with! So....BANANA BREAD.

Now my thing here is......

I don't enjoy the taste of superly overly ripened bananas. Where the skin is black.

I just find a floral - note, if that makes sense? It's just unpleasant.

I like it when the bananas are still more so yellow with just a few bruises.

The banana taste is subtle in this and doesn't over power the bread.

Now...peanut butter - yes. Peanut butter and bananas are just made for eachother. And what doesn't go with chocolate?

I literally almost added bacon....

I'm so wishing I did........

Banana Bread is typically boring....that is why I wanted to add the peanut butter and chocolate in the batter.

But why not cover the top of the bread too?!

It came out super pretty and oh so decadent looking.

And it was TO DIE FOR.

It's a beautiful thing isn't it?

My trick to getting that super runny chocolate is simply adding a little bit of hot water to it.

And for the peanut butter I just nuked it for 30 seconds.

And there you have it! Banana Bread with some Oomph.

And I would also like to announce.

Today is my two year anniversary of having my blog!!

WOOHOOOOO!!! Boy has the time flown by. And this is also my 180th recipe!

So yay for Banana Bread!!!


Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, Banana Bread

yield: 1 loaf

prep time: 15 minutes

cook time: 40 minutes


  • 4 ripe bananas

  • 4 Tbs melted butter

  • ½ c brown sugar

  • ¼ c white sugar

  • 1 Tbs vanilla extract

  • 1 egg

  • ½ c creamy peanut butter

  • ¼ c buttermilk

  • 2 ¼ c all purpose flour

  • 1 c dark chocolate chips

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • Pinch of salt

Melted peanut butter and chocolate for drizzle overtop


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a loaf pan (if using small one, this will require 2)

  2. In a large bowl, mash up the bananas.

  3. Add in the melted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla. Mix until well blended.

  4. Add the egg, peanut butter and buttermilk - mix until well blended.

  5. Add in the flour, baking soda, salt and chocolate chips and mix until combined.

  6. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake until toothpick comes out clean, about 40 minutes depending on the depth of your loaf pan.

  7. Let cool and drizzle with melted peanut butter and melted chocolate.

  8. ENJOY!!!!!
