As I currently eat a salad....blogging about this pizza is making me want to make bad decisions.
cheesy, greasy, extra carb-y, decisions.
I think it's this rainy day that is making me want to eat pizza, but then again that is every day.
So..this is basically a Hawaiian pizza gone EXTRA right.
I'm not a huge Hawaiian pizza fan, only because I'm not much of a ham lover.
So why not twist it?
Candy the Bacon.
Foreal, candied bacon is legit a life changer. Its crispy and sticky and sweet and salty. It's everything you want in life.
And to me, is a much better pairing with pineapple than Ham.
And then to twist it up more.
I added some spice, using jalapeno.
The sweet and sticky from the bacon, next to the fresh and light pineapple...the spice from the jalapeno fits like a glove.
Its all dat AND more.
And then the topper. Fresh cut chives.
I can't even really put my finger on it, but they really made this pizza pop.
With my pizza obsession... I will say this pizza came out to be one of my top favorites, simply because of its looks and taste. Its bright and fun but the taste hits multiple levels.
You . Must . Try.
Candied Bacon & Pineapple Pizza
prep time: 15 minutes (+ 2 hours if making pizza dough by scratch)
cook time: 15 minutes
***For the candied bacon, preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place on the bacon, sprinkle brown sugar over the bacon until evenly, lightly coated and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned and caramelized on edges. Let cool.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees (preheat your pizza stone if you have it)
Roll out your pizza dough on a lightly floured pizza peel, if no peel or stone place directly on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Top with just a thin later of pizza sauce, then add the garlic and thin slices of jalapeno.
Top with mozzarella.
Slide onto the pizza stone once oven is preheated.
Bake for 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and dough edges are starting to brown.
Quickly, add half the fresh pineapple overtop and the candied bacon.
Bake another 5 - 7 minutes until edges are golden brown.
Take out, top with more fresh pineapple, thinly sliced jalapeno and fresh chives.
WHERE'S DA PIZZA???!
