The Green Smoothie
hey, how the hell are you?
It's coming to that time of year where all ya wanna do is eat your feelings based on the degree it is outside.
aka - PA being in it's solid 30's makes for a week of eating pizza.
but also in that back of that mind you're thinking of 2018 and the goals...
"I'm just going to live my fullest the rest of the year and eat good in this damn neighborhood, then start on this bod next year"
was it just me?
so...here's this here green drank to break the hibernation.
it's full of such GOOD things and tastes AMAZING!
now, I am a huge knocker of frozen fruit or veggies (fresh always) - BUTTTTT it will not matter in this smoothie.
this smoothie is a great kick starter to your morning or for a snack.
the greeny greens comes from spinach but if you're no spinach fan, kale will also be a GREAT sub or you can just leave out the greens completely...but honestly, best part....you can't even tell they're in there so this is SUPER kid friendly!
now...wanna know the best part EVA.
there's just a teeeeeny tinyyyyy bit of fresh garlic in this. hehe
aside from my obsession...there are HUGE benefits to raw garlic, especially with all the sickness coming around!!
Garlic is a good preventative for the common cold. Raw garlic exerts antimicrobial activity against viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi. Its good for lungs, for treating asthma, bronchitis, inflammation, rashes, bug bites. tooth aches, ear infection and other infections including Staph and MRSA. Unlike antibiotics that actually weaken your immune system, garlic actually boosts your immune system.
ima live til i'm 200.
The Green Smoothie
prep time: 3 minutes
1/4 c pineapple
1 banana (I froze mine to create a cold smoothie)
handful of fresh spinach (or 1/4 c frozen and drained)
squeeze of half a lemon
1/2 small garlic clove (I used a whole clove, but use as much as desired for taste)
In a blender, combine all ingredients EXCEPT for the coconut water, add this slowly until you reach your desired consistency.
AND ENJOY! boom, so simple.
