Carly’s Famous Sandwich

This sandwich is so fool proof it's not even funny. I've been eating this sandwich for about, hmm.. let's see.... 2 months now? I eat it at least 4 times a week and it's a lunch I wake up and look forward to. It's packed with flavor but filled with simple ingredients and leaves you guilt free! Let's get into the basics.

 

You need a good quality meat, cheese and bread. My go to deli meat is always Boar's head. I actually use two kinds of Boars turkey in this sandwich because it's just amazeballs. Cheese, I used a good organic cheddar cheese.... & bread....ALWAYS and forever using Ezekiel Bread. I've been using the sesame one lately and I think it's my favorite so far. Ezekiel is found in the frozen section, normally with the organic/healthier options. I don't fly through a loaf of bread a week so the fact it's frozen is great, it can last me a while without spoiling!

 

Now overall - this sandwich is very healthy and nutritious! It's filled with organic whole sprouted grains, fresh organic produce & cheese, and lean quality meat. What more could you ask for?? There's a touch of mayo because I will never be able to give it up. It's part of my soul.

 

Alright now let's get to it!

 

Carly’s Famous Sandwich

 

yield: 1 sandwich

prep time: 5 minutes

cook time: 10 minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp butter (I used Organic Horizon)

  • 2 slices of frozen Ezekiel Bread (I used Sesame)

  • Organic Mustard

  • 1 ounce Boars Head Peppered Deli Turkey

  • 1 ounce Boars Head Blackened Deli Turkey

  • 1 slice/ounce of Cheddar Cheese (I used Organic Horizon)

  • 1 thin slice of vidalia onion (10g)

  • 1 thin slice of organic tomato (40g)

  • 1 Tbs Hellman's Light Mayonnaise

  • small handful of Organic Arugula (5g)

Directions:

  1. Over medium heat, heat up your frying pan.

  2. Take your two slices of frozen Ezekiel and spread some mustard on each slice. I like to coat crust to crust.

  3. Next, on one of the slices, layer on the two ounces of deli turkey.

  4. Then the cheese.

  5. Then the thin sliced onion and tomato.

  6. Now close up your sandwich with the other mustered slice. We will add on the mayo and arugula once the sandwich has cooked.

  7. Throw in 1/2 tsp of butter into your hot pan and place the sandwich in. Cook for about 5 minutes until browned. Then add in the last 1/2 tsp of butter and flip, cooking another 5 minutes.

  8. When sandwich is browned and cheese has melted take out and open up your hot sandwich. Spread on the 1Tbs of light mayo and then pile on the arugula and close up the sandwich, slice diagonally and ENJOY!
